This past Thursday evening, November 1st, legends of the Washington wine industry joined forces with an iconic presence in the local restaurant world, celebrated Canlis. An intimate group of patrons from the Saturday Gala during our 25th Anniversary celebration saw their generous contribution come to life at the Walla Walla Founders Dinner.
While swirling many rare and library wines in our glasses we were delighted by stories from Gary and Nancy Figgins, Rick and Darcey Small, Marty and Megan Clubb as they shared the history and evolution of the wine industry in the Walla Walla Valley. Through their humor, perspective and wisdom we touched the legacy of excellence and passion that is synonymous with Leonetti Cellars, Woodward Canyon and L’Ecole Nº41. The evening became richer and more memorable with each successive course pairing and impeccable wine service from Phillip Dunn and the wine team at Canlis creating an unparalleled synergy between food and wine that will be remembered for years to come. Through the effortless hospitality of Mark and Brian Canlis, the spirit of community and camaraderie experienced during the Auction weekend was alive and well during this special night, too.
It was a privilege to gather once again and raise our glasses realizing that through visionary vintners, restaurateurs and loyal patrons of the Auction, we continue to make a lasting difference in our community.
